Boman Irani was born on 2 December 1959 in Nagpada, Mumbai, India. He belongs to an Irani Zoroastrian family. Growing up, Boman suffered from dyslexia, ADHD, and a lisp, but he eventually overcame them.

Career:
After graduating, he worked as a waiter at the Taj Hotel before going on to pursue a career in photography and turned in the sports photographer for many boxing championships, including the Norwegian Boxing Team, and photographed specified photos for the retired Norwegian Boxer Ole Klemetsen.
Irani continued his career as a photographer until the age of 32 but after his marriage, he soon shifted to the theatre. From 1981 to 1983, Boman trained under acting coach Hansraj Siddhia. After that, Boman’s mentor was an Indian theatre personality and ad filmmaker Alyque Padamsee. Boman was introduced to an Indian Choreographer Shiamak Davar by Alyque.
