After her graduation and working in several theatre productions in Delhi, Huma moved to Mumbai in 2008, to make her mark in Bollywood. She auditioned for a film called Junction but the movie was never made. Huma then moved to do commercials and signed two years contract with Hindustan Unilever to appear in their TV commercials. She promoted many products for them, including Samsung Mobile (alongside Amir Khan), Vita Marie, Saffola Oil, Nerolac (alongside Shah Rukh Khan), Mederma Cream, and Pears Soap.
In 2012, she made her TV serial debut with Upanishad Ganga and her big screen debut with the movie Gangs of Wasseypur-Part 1, for which she was ranked number 3, on Rediff.com’s annual list of “Bollywood’s Top Ten Debutants” (male and female), which was considered the highest female position.
