Jubin Nautiyal was born on June 14, 1989, in Dehradun, Uttrakhand, to Mr. Ram Sharan Nautiyal (a businessman & a politician in Uttrakhand) and Mrs. Neena Nautiyal (a businesswoman). As a child, Jubin showed an inclination toward music and started singing at the age of four. He became a known singer in his hometown of Dehradun at the age of 18 and started performing in various events.
He was trained in classical music from a young age and won several music competitions in school. Jubin attended St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun for his schooling up to eighth grade and then went to Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun, where he developed a passion for playing the guitar and began writing his own songs. He also learned to play instruments like piano, harmonium, and drums and also built a base in classical music.
After his schooling in Dehradun, in 2007 he moved to Mumbai and enrolled in a music course at Mithibai College, Mumbai, and train in music under a Hindustani classical singer Pandit Chhannulal Mishra in Varanasi. After that, Jubin ventured into Bollywood and met A.R. Rahman who appreciated his voice quality but suggested doing more training before entering the Indian Music Industry.

In 2011, he partook in the television music reality show X Factor but didn’t get far in the show and got eliminated after the top 25.
