The love of athleticism was a clear sign that Virat was a natural athlete with a bright future. Whether it was cricket or football, he was outstanding in every sport. He was very passionate about cricket since his teenage years.
Virat started playing for the Delhi Under-15 team in October 2002 in the Polly Umrigar Trophy. He became the captain of the Team for the next year. The following year, he was the highest run-getter in the series when he played for the Delhi-Under-17 Team.
He made his first-class debut at the age of 18. Virat always dreamed of representing his country in International Cricket and had his first opportunity as a teenager when he played for India’s under-19 Team in 2006, led the same Team to an ICC World Cup win in 2008.

His real break came in 2010 when senior players of the teams were rested for the tour of the Zimbabwe series when Raina was named captain, and he became the vice-captain.
Kohli was India’s leading run-getter in the five-match ODI series against South Africa in 2011, with 193 at an average of 48.25, including two fifties, both came in India’s defeats. After the series, he jumped to the second spot of the ICC Men’s ODI batters. MS Dhoni preferred Virat over Raina in World Cup Matches. Later, he became the first Indian batsman to score a century on his World Cup debut.
In July 2011, he made his test debut and was declared Vice-Captain for Asia Cup in 2012. He became Captain for the Test of the Australian tour in December 2014 when Dhoni was not part of the India team at Adelaide due to an injury. Dhoni announced his retirement from Test cricket. Later, Kohli got appointed as full-time test captain. In September 2021, Virat announced that he would step down from the Captain’s Position across all formats. He got replaced by Rohit Sharma as Indian Captain.
